The Permaculture Skills Center (PSC) is a local, community and land-based resource for education and training. Our business model is rooted in natural systems thinking to develop the resources, skills and tools that design a replicable ecologically based economy.

The PSC is located on 5 acres in west Sonoma County, California. This fertile and neglected land has been under restoration and cultivation since we took it over in the winter of 2012. In the first two years we have installed over 2000 feet of storm water catchment systems, 2 acres of rotational pasture complete with silvapasture systems and on contour hedgerows, 250+ heirloom fruit, nut, and olive trees. Hundreds of medicinal, soil building, insect attracting and edible plants as understory to our fruit and nut trees. 1 acre of vegetables, strawberries and cut flowers and a mobile chicken coop that holds one hundreds pasture fed chickens and a flock of sheep, alpaca, and a llama for natural fiber generation.

Growing food and regenerating the land!

TapRoot Farm, located at the Permaculture Skills Center is focused on the cultivation of sustainably-grown produce, and community-centered education. We focus on applying regenerative farming techniques such as no-till agriculture, bio intensive planting plans, heirloom and open pollinated seed saving, rotational grazing integration, soil fertility management, cover cropping, water harvesting, and natural pest management strategies and more.

Our goal is to engage the community in growing, harvesting and selling the best tasting and nutritious food possible while at the same time regenerating the ecological services of our environment. We grow the full spectrum annual vegetables, berries (strawberries, blueberries, raspberries), cut flowers, and pastured chicken eggs. These local food products are available at our onsite farm stand, through our Community Supported/Grown Agriculture programs and at select local vendors.
